You may have noticed that the Pensacola Calendar was incorrect today. It said to pray that the clinic on Village Oaks would close. Well it already closed last August. And the 9th ave clinic is closed so today should have said "pray that the clinic on 9th never re-opens again." The clinic will probably get insurance money from the fire but I pray the owner (who is going to court for murder) will need the money for his legal team and decide not to rebuild. As for the rest of the state, we continue to pray that Florida becomes abortion free. The following is a post from State Representative Rachel Burgin:
I just wanted to send everyone an update to let you know that House Bill 277 related to abortion will be up for the first committee hearing on Tuesday Jan 24 from 2:00 - 5:00pm in Tallahassee. Here are a few things that this legislation will accomplish.- Restricts when abortion may be performed in 3rd trimester or after viability. - Provides certain physician & location requirements and requires physician to have specified training- Prohibits abortion in 3rd trimester in location other than hospital; prohibits abortion in location other than specified locations; provides defense to disciplinary action; prohibits physician from knowingly performing partial-birth abortion; provides exceptions.- Requires DOH to permanently revoke license of practitioner convicted of certain felonies; provides that infant born alive after attempted abortion is entitled to same rights as other infants.- Requires another physician be present to take control of any infant born alive; requires physician to take reasonable steps to preserve life & health of unborn child.- Prohibits unlawful advertisement on how to obtain abortion; requires clinic to place specified notices; provides reporting requirements; requires clinic to be owned & operated by physician with specified training.
So we continue to battle abortion on the state level. Thank God for men and women in the legislature that want to do what is right.
On a separate note, we had a good time of prayer tonight with a group called Culture Shock. They are a youth-based ministry for our city. These friday night worship meetings are important as we go from church to church and pray for our city. If you haven't been to one yet try to make the next one. Next Friday we meet at Pensacola House of Prayer at 108 Industrial Blvd. The PHOP crew is in Orlando at One Thing Regional. So I am expecting them to come back all fired up.
